An invoice is an everyday part of your business that is easy to overlook. It gets sent, it gets paid, and it disappears into someone's inbox and into company records. But for your bookkeeper, your clients, and your accountant, these documents are actually doing a lot of heavy lifting — and they should look and function like it.
This week, we rolled out a redesigned invoice layout and a brand new settings panel that puts you in full control of what your clients see, as well as what you or your accountant needs come tax season.
We've rolled out a fully redesigned invoice layout across Pike13 that applies to all invoices, past and future. The new design is clean, branded, and built to communicate the most important details clearly at a glance.
Your business logo, name, and address lead the way, reinforcing your brand identity and professional perception with your customers. Invoice status is now displayed prominently at the top, with color-coded badges that make it immediately obvious whether a status is Paid, Refunded, Canceled, or Voided. This means no more ambiguity for staff, and no more anxious clients that call you wanting proof their payment was voided. Line item details, participant names, and payment records are all presented in a format that's easy to read and even easier to hand off to a bookkeeper.
Alongside the new design, we've introduced a full suite of Invoice Settings that let you customize what appears on every invoice across your business. You'll find them at:
Settings → Advanced Settings → Checkout → Invoice Settings
From there, you can toggle on or off:
If your business is required to display a Tax ID, EIN, VAT, or ABN on client invoices — whether for your own compliance or because clients are requesting it for their records — this is the setting you've been waiting for.
When you enable the Business Tax ID toggle, you'll be prompted to enter your ID number directly. The label that appears in front of it (Tax ID, VAT, ABN, etc.) is automatically pulled from your business's language settings, so it displays correctly regardless of your region. Every invoice going forward will carry that information, no manual additions required.
Tax prep is one of those things that feels distant until time flies and the panic starts to set in. The best time to get your invoice settings dialed in is before you need them, not the week your accountant is asking questions.
Here's a quick checklist to run through in Invoice Settings today:
Five minutes now could save a very frustrating afternoon in April.
Because the new design applies retroactively to all invoices — past and future — the settings you configure today will also affect how historical records look when clients or your bookkeeper pulls them up. That makes it worth taking a few extra minutes to ensure everything is set the way you want it before you save.
Your invoices are client-facing documents, compliance records, and a reflection of your brand all at once. Now they look and function better than they ever have.
To customize your invoice settings, head to Settings → Advanced Settings → Checkout → Invoice Settings.
