Today we added Payroll functionality to Pike13. This set of features allows you to track and manage your staff's tips, commissions, and class/appointment pay.
Let's walk through it.
All Payroll settings live under Customize > Payroll Settings and can all be accessed from Staff Members.
Pay Rates
Pay Rates determine your staff members' compensation for instructing a class or servicing an appointment. For appointments, staff can be paid a fixed amount or a percentage of what the client paid (factoring in any discounts). For classes, staff can be given a fix amount plus per attendee bonuses. These bonuses can be tiered (+$10 after 10 attendees) or per-head (+$1/head) or a combination of the two. Staff are assigned to a Pay Rate for each Service giving owners a lot of flexibility in compensation.
Tips
For appointment based businesses, we've also rolled up our existing Tips functionality into Payroll. When checking out from a Service that has tipping enabled, staff will have the option to hand the device to the customer to confirm the amount, enter an email address for the receipt and apply a gratuity if desired.
Commissions
If' you're a larger business, you may reward your staff members for selling memberships. Commissions are an excellent way to track this compensation. You can set commissions to be fixed or a percentage of the sale price (factoring in discounts).
One-off Compensation
The swiss army knife of Payroll. For all other compensation (attending a conference, hourly work, etc) staff members can self-report their compensation that is then approved by an owner. This can be done from staff member profiles.
A staff member's pay history as well as her pending compensation can be viewed on her profile under the Pay tab.
Running Payroll
Owners can run payroll for a pay period and approve or deny one-off compensation by going to Staff Members > Run Payroll Now. All different types of compensation (tips, commissions, class/appointment pay and one-off pay) are rolled up automatically. Just select your date range and start writing checks.
Phew - that was a big post. We may be over-compensating for something (get it?). As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Happy Compensation.
