Our Pike13 team had a great experience last weekend in San Francisco for our first time at Yoga Journal Live! We hung out in our booth and chatted with yogis who stopped by to share their passions and learn about Pike13. We met some awesome people with interestingand diverse business ideas, from the coveted Exotic Yoga Retreats to the fun and vibrant headbands and cold-pressed turmeric juices. This weekend was not just for socializing on the Marketplace floor. We also attended some informative talks:
James Wvinner shared tips and tricks about using media in the yoga community. He emphasized the importance of knowing your niche to brand your offering, planning ahead, and growing an informative e-newsletter. James sparked a new mantra in my cloudy head: “A dull pencil is better than a sharp mind.”
Lynann Politte specializes in taking companies to the next level of business through building a loyal and inspired yoga community. She emphasized the importance of "authentically portraying who you are and what you do so that your tribe will find you."
Dr. Andrew Weil, an acclaimed holistic health specialist, gave the keynote. A few of us are long-time admirers of Dr. Weil’s teachings, so we were elated to sit in on his talk Spontaneous Happiness. He spoke to the idea that society trains us to believe we should always be happy so we rush into over-medicating for natural moodiness. Dr. Weil recommends that before resorting to medicine, we should simplify our lifestyles and become more “primitive”—move more, eat more whole foods, be more social, and sleep with the sun’s cycles.
We also were able to fit in some fun! Check out some of our Pike13 crew pausing before powering up the daunting bends of Lombard Street:
Finally, I know this is what you’ve all been waiting for… the announcement of our iPad winner! To enter, participants just needed to experience signing up in the Pike13 New Client Kiosk app on an iPad. And the winner of the iPad is Phoebe Jacks of Adhikara Yoga. Congratulations, Phoebe!
