As a business owner you’re probably familiar with the feeling of being stretched too thin and frustrated with an inability to get everything done. With countless responsibilities and never-ending To-do lists, it’s easy to feel a continual burden. Many owners, especially sole proprietors, are singularly responsible for keeping all wheels on the wagon—providing services, collecting customer payments, bookkeeping, scheduling, ordering supplies, cleaning, paying bills—while still trying to make time for exercise and sleep!
Humor me for a second and take this brief quiz:
-
Do you feel overwhelmed?
-
Is your laundry list of projects daunting?
-
Do you feel like you’re not doing enough of the things you should in order to get to where you want to be?
-
Do you feel like you have to do everything 100% or it’s not worth doing?
-
Do you feel that you need to do the program updates, big launch, extensive build out, and systems overhaul all at once?
If you answered yes to all or most of the above, I have some good news...
What if I told you that doing a series of little things could made a big difference? What if you don’t have to do everything right now? What if executing on simple, bite-size, manageable efforts provided a great return? What if making a 1% improvement in a variety of efforts could transform your business?
I want to share one of the more inspiring and liberating (and, more importantly, actionable!) concepts I’ve been introduced to in a long time: the Aggregation of Marginal Gains.
In a nutshell, if you focus on making small improvements in your business—improving processes, programs, cleanliness, communications—all by a mere 1%, the result can be life (and business) altering.
I know what you’re thinking. “Come on, how can 1% really do all that much?”
